Dog training – Tip # 4: “Dog growls when you approach his food bowl”

Change his association! All dogs closely monitor the resources they value, some more than others. One big resource is food, and some dogs can get really nasty about it. If you get in the habit of dropping something really delicious by his food bowl while he is eating, he will come to welcome your presence near his food bowl rather than feel threatened by it. Just walk by at the distance that does not incur a growl and drop a little something. Over time, walk by a little closer. So simple, eh?
