Humboldt Jazz Festival, 26th November

The Humboldt Association (Quito), the Ecuadorian-German Culture Centre (Guayaquil) and Kultura (the German Culture Network in Ecuador) present the Humboldt Festival 2021 in Quito, Cuenca, Loja and Guayaquil.

The Cuenca event is today, 26th November and will take place in the Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz (University of Cuenca), starting at 8 PM.
Two groups of excellent jazz musicians will present themselves on stage: Berlin People from Germany and the local group Ecuador Encuentro.

Tickets are sold at $5 at the theatre office. Get your ticket as soon as you can. Although there might be some left in the evening, I recommend to visit the office in the morning.
The seats are not numbered, so seating on first come, first served basis.

About Berlin People:

A decade after making every jazz player’s dream of moving to New York come true, German saxophonist, Tobias Meinhart, presents Berlin People, a project that unites his home country with his new life in the United States.

Atmospheric, energetic and characterized by strong unison, the band incorporates some of Germany’s best musicians: Ludwig Hornung (piano), Tom Berkmann (bass) and Mathias Ruppnig (drums). They are joined on several occasions by guitarist Ramiro Olaciregui. Their latest album was released on the Sunnyside record label and the music was written specifically for the group’s members. Having established their name as a group internationally and playing iconic venues such as Blue Note, Birdland and New York’s 55 Bar, Berlin People brings 10 years of musical evolution to international audiences.

About Ecuador Encuentro:

Ecuador Encuentro is a contemporary music ensemble, which manages a repertoire of its own compositions that fuse jazz with Ecuadorian rhythms. The group formed 2013 in Buenos Aires, with the desire to unite Ecuadorian musicians living in Argentina. They have participated in international festivals and toured through Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador. Their discography includes 3 published albums: “Baires 2015”, “Capitales 2018” and “Resiliencia”, released in 2021. In addition, in 2019 they recorded their EP “Transición”, which was released within the framework of the International Festival of Living Arts of Loja 2020.

November 26th, 8 PM, $5, Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz, Av. 12 de Abril & Agustin Cueva, Cuenca.
