An introductory course in ceramics with Lynne Zelasko.
Experience the joy of working in clay in a collaborative artistic environment. This 5-week/32-hour studio course will cover the three basic methods of hand building – pinch, slab, and coil techniques. Students will create a range of work varying from functional ware to sculptural forms.
Participants will learn the basic vocabulary of ceramics as well as methods of surface treatment, glazing, and firing. Elements and principles of art (e.g. form, texture, movement, contrast) will be introduced and explored through individual responses to projects, in a spacious home studio space.
Students will complete the workshop with 4-7 finished ceramic pieces, depending on size and complexity of the work.
