IESS enrollment question

I received my cedula less than a month ago, and would like to apply to enroll in IESS. I have made multiple attempts to enroll online, but each time it seems to fail and hang up close to the end of the process (after receiving a code number in the email or after clicking to say that I accept the payment of $x per month.)

Could this be because I am applying prematurely and must wait three months after receiving the cedula before starting the application process? Perhaps they have no message to say that the application for registration is premature, so it just hangs up? Or is it another problem?

Anyone have any ideas or experience of this?

Also how are the payments made? The application process so far has not asked to have a payment method input by me, so I don’t know if it will accept an overseas (US) debit or credit card, but, I am planning to open an account with JEP, so the issue may be moot.

Donations needed to feed the poorest families in Ricaurte

Thank you so much for all your donations. We are helping the poorest of the poor, who are always the last to recover from any hit on the economy. Every month we get lentils, rice, tuna, and other staples to these families. You can send money to my paypal at or email me there with any questions. Or if you donate $40 or more, I will meet you for breakfast or lunch, and pick up the tab. These people are unbelievably grateful for your support. Photos provided upon request.

An incredible opportunity this Christmas

Foundation Hogar de Esperanza in collaboration with other foundations is making preparations for our largest Christmas event ever. Over 500 people will receive assistance and depending on support, the number could go much higher. There are many activities planned from small parties to trips with the children. Due to COVID restrictions, we will not have one large party like other years.

Hogar de Esperanza (Home of Hope) takes a very distinctive approach to the assistance we provide. Each family has one child who is facing critical illness such as cancer, HIV or other challenges. At least 40 of the children will come from the cancer hospital, SOLCA in collaboration with Hogar Emaus. We are in the process of collecting the data on selected families and we are inviting you to participate.

You can donate, sponsor a family, and/or help in other ways. However you would like to participate, we will do our best to accommodate. To receive updates or to participate, please contact us. Each food package will cost $50. To provide a complete wardrobe for a child $50 and toys will cost $20. These are estimated costs. You can, if you desire, spend time with a family in need this Christmas and make the purchases yourself. Contact us for more information or to be assigned a family. To make a donation: you for supporting families in need.

Wes the Mentalist…money back satisfaction guarantee

Wes returns to Tutto Matto Pizzeria after successful round of gigs in Cuenca and Vilcabamba, having raised almost $2000 for charity.

What’s the catch?
This event is not a charity event. Wes will perform his “all new show” with a moneyback guarantee. Chef/owner Daniel Olmes will serve up his award-winning dishes.
We know you’ll love the food, but mentalism may not be your cup of tea, or slice of pizza, or copa de vino.

Watch the show, and if you feel that you did not get $7 worth of entertainment, then ask for a refund after the show. On the other hand, if you feel that it was worth more than $7 then leave a tip as you exit.

Pre-show, one-on-one mysteries begin at 6 PM. Show starts at 6:30. Reservations recommended.

November 11. Seating at 5:45 PM. Pre-show 6 PM. Performance 6:30 PM, 7 PM, Solano at Alfonso Moreno Mora, Cuenca.

High rates of return + safety/security

Because many GringoPost readers may not be familiar with Cooperco, I’d like to introduce this exceptional co-operative to you. Established in Cuenca in 1965, Cooperco has, until now, been focused almost exclusively on servicing the Cuencano community. That exclusive emphasis has begun to shift. In addition to continuing to serve the Cuencano community, Cooperco, in 2020, expanded its capability to now include a strong initiative serving Cuenca’s international community. Starting from a decidedly strong base, Cooperco has only grown stronger. It is the cooperative that offers CDs with not only high rates of return but unparalleled safety and security of principal. That’s a combination that is hard to beat.

Trading a Nikon D40 camera for something of my interest

This is Javier Vanegas. A few people have done business with me of different kind and I’m known around.

I have a D40 professional camera which is in a functional and reliable state (although not as new). I have been using it as an enthusiast more than anything, and I’ve taken plenty of pictures with it. However, I have the difficulty that I was only able to get it with a long-distance lens (55-200 mm) and I don’t really want to invest in buying a short range lens.

Recommendation for Mother and Son, meal delivery or pick up

Because of health reasons, not Covid related, I finally had to admit that I was not feeding myself in a manner that supported my well-being. What was easy was not nutritionally sound. I also found that I was discarding food that seemed like a good idea in the grocery store, and not such a good idea after it was in my refrigerator. Delivery to my apartment is complicated and expensive. Therefore, I finally turned to Mother and Son.
