According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
Certain immediate, short-term effects of indoor air pollution are similar to those from colds or other viral diseases. These include irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, headaches, dizziness, and fatigue.
Other health effects may show up either years after exposure has occurred or only after long or repeated periods of exposure. These effects, which include some respiratory diseases, heart disease, and cancer can be severely debilitating or fatal. It is prudent to try to improve the indoor air quality in your home even if symptoms are not noticeable.
This month we have a number of great workshops at idiomART!
We are so happy to announce that fiber artist Rommie Gerber-Reddington is back in Cuenca and will be giving two different textile workshops.
The first is “Felting: A Soft Addiction”. Felting dates back to pre-historic times and is a process that causes natural fibers, like wool, to fray slightly and fuse to the other fibers around it, creating a more solid appearance, which can be used in a variety of creative projects.
La Guarida, the number 1 rated restaurant in Cuenca (according to TripAdvisor) will now open for dinner reservations only during Friday and Saturday nights. During this whole month we will give you a free glass of wine with your dinner reservation. Groups of 4 will receive a bottle of wine on the house.
We love what we do. We use organic produce and have the best distributors around such as CuencaSalmon, Nunkui and La Galleria Bakery.

Waking up at 5:30 AM to eat her breakfast and leave by 6 AM, she arrives at work at 8 AM and starts sewing bed covers around the bed frame. She recently turned 67 years old, she’s still in the States: Queens, NY, and works in New Jersey. That lady is my mother and she deserved her freedom. Well, I work as a waiter/ freelancer and make enough for all the bills at home. Since my father died due to covid-19 last year, April 2020, I have become the man of the house; mom has no bills to worry about. We have a small construction located here in Cuenca and we would truly appreciate it if someone can invest in our project. It’s a 6-floor building, 3 floors are done already thank you, God.(more…)
We needed the router moved and the fiber optic cable extended in our condo. Angela came with her helper Gaby and they were very prompt and efficient. Splicing fiber is a specialty in cabling and we were lucky to find her.

I have been retired in Cuenca for two years. I’ve been an adventurer all my life, and Adrián has facilitated in helping to learn about this new land on the equator. He knows the country very well.
Adrián worked on my condo, He fixed my water heater, installed railings and fixtures for hanging paintings, found a part for the portable gas heater that everyone else said was unavailable.
He is a trusted and reliable person. He recommended a lawyer for my second visa, IESS and end of life service. I don’t have to solve these issues myself.
He can help with vehicle registration and inspection. Adrian builds furniture. See the photos.
Adrián can provide personal references from satisfied clients
His prices are reasonable. He recently completely overhauling his taxi. He is consistent with having his car in good shape. My daughter had a good visit here. We went on tours to historic sites. We fished for trout in a lake high up in the Andes. Another time I had to go to the airport, but he made it an adventure by taking his family and me to the beach before I had to fly to the States for a visit. It was summer here, but December there. Amazing.
