Real stories from the Hogar – Getting a good night’s sleep

Anna is just 7-years old. For the last two years, her mother has been unable to get her in to see a specialist. Anna suffers daily from swelling on her tiny arms, caused by severe allergies but no specialists are available in the public hospital to deal with her complicated case. She never gets a good night’s sleep as she is tossing and turning all night because of the pain and the discomfort.

We presented this case to HKIE and they will get her in to see a specialist this week. We provide food for her and her mother. This past week, we enrolled Anna in our Thursday equine therapy program in collaboration with the National Police. Her mother called us on Friday and said that for the first time in two years, Anna had a good night’s sleep. Like all the children enrolled, she loved the equine program because it was a distraction from her constant daily pain.

This is Hogar de Esperanza’s (Home of Hope) distinctive approach. We find a permanent solution for those who come into contact with us. The cases we deal with are unique as they are mostly those suffering from medical conditions. The dreams of these children are simple – they just want help with their pain or enough to eat. We provide both and more.
