YapaFest 2021 is coming this Saturday

You may be familiar with the word Yapa. When shopping a local mercado, a vendor will often give you a little more than you expected. That little extra is Yapa. Yapa is a Quichua word meaning to give a little extra, and Yapa can refers to both material and immaterial things. During the pandemic, many of our artist friends, musical and artisans, have suffered. It is time for us as a community to join together to enjoy a day in the outdoors and give a little extra… our attention to the arts.

On Saturday, September 25th, beginning at 11 AM and running till 5 PM, La Yunta is hosting YapaFest! 2021, an outdoor music and artisan festival and benefit. There will be four bands spreading joyful music. Artisan vendors will be on hand with their own handmade creations including craftwork and take away food goodies. Also Helping Kids In Ecuador will be on hand with information on their work.

And here is the great news. The event is Free.

Let’s join together as a community of friends to support the arts and spread love in this time of need.

Don’t expect high production, this event is just about artisans sharing the creations they have made and musicians playing on the grass.

Social distancing and masks are required (yeah, we know, but it is still the law in Ecuador).

Since the artisan booths will be in the parking area, parking will be very limited. Please consider coming by taxi (or walking if you live nearby) due to parking limitations.

Saturday, September 25th from 11 AM to 5 PM, Free, La Yunta Restaurante: 1 de Mayo between Las Americas y Fray Gaspar de Carvajal, Cuenca.
