Carlos suffers from severe depression. He does not know his father and he watched his mother die, falling down a flight of stairs, two years ago, shortly after his little sister was born. He now lives with his grandmother in a little room. She has little income and recycles plastic bottles. Carlos has few dreams. At six-years old, he just wants to feel good. The constant epilepsy attacks and memories of his mom torture him. Our university students visited them back in July and we have been providing him with medical appointments and medications since. He loves coming to Foundation Hogar de Esperanza (Home of Hope) because we always make him feel better and his attacks have been less frequent.
Today, we had a real treat for him. The staff from Bigotte came to the foundation and cut hair for some of the boys and he got a professional haircut. We are so grateful to businesses like Bigotte who donate their services to help children in need. We encourage you to support Bigotte and tell them thanks for helping Carlos in his difficult situation. Bigotte is located in Edificio Dali on Gran Colombia and Miguel Morocho.
How can you help? We have a recycling area set up for plastics in our Expat Services Center where you can drop off plastics for Carlos’s grandmother. If your business has ideas to support our work, you can contact us. If you would like to make a donation you can do so at: https://hogaresperanza.org/en/donations/. You can also drop into our Expat Services Center at Mariscal Sucre 12-84 and Juan Montalvo. Let’s show Bigotte our appreciation.
