Our film choices for this week are:
Tuesday, September 14th, at 6:45 PM: Castaway On The Moon.
‘Castaway on the Moon’ tells the story of a man whose life is falling apart. His girlfriend has left him, he’s in debt and a failure at business. Feeling that there’s no way out he decides to kill himself by jumping off a bridge near the city. Instead of drowning though he ends up on a tiny island underneath the bridge. Unable to swim he finds himself stranded on the island. At the same time, a second story unfolds, about a young woman who’s afraid to go outside, who discovers the man on the island and watches him through her camera from her apartment.
Wednesday, September 15th at 6:45 PM: Of Mice and Men.
Based on John Steinbeck’s 1937 classic tale of two traveling companions, George and Lennie, who wander the country during the Depression, dreaming of a better life for themselves. Then, just as heaven is within their grasp, it is inevitably yanked away. The film follows Steinbeck’s novel closely, exploring questions of strength, weakness, usefulness, reality and utopia, bringing Steinbeck’s California vividly to life.
Thursday, September 16th at 7:30 PM: Trio La Comarca. Admission: $10. Trio La Comarca, is an award-winning musical group. They come from a very long tradition of local musicians and this is the perfect opportunity to hear and enjoy Ecuador’s best rhythms: vals and pasillos.
