Where is organic citrus fruit (oranges, grapefruit or mandarins) sold in Cuenca, other than at some of the weekend markets or Supermaxi?
At Fundacion Nur we want to support the whole community to face their challenges, and find their own solutions though continuous education.
Good communication with the people we interact with, at work, as a family, as a couple and in all spaces, helps us to be assertive, empower ourselves, demand our rights and fulfill our duties.
We are almost a third of the way to our goal? Can you help us?
It is time for our mothers to start worrying about sending their kids back to school.
Our dilemma: 22 shelter children living at Casa Mara Amor + 78 shelter children living outside the shelter x $95 = $9,500. This is the amount needed to provide our children with shoes, uniforms, underwear, backpacks and supplies. (Please note: thanks to our mailing list generosity and you wonderful people on GringoPost, we have raised $3000 of this goal since last Friday)
Can you stand this much fun? Join pianist, Robert Brinkmoeller and vocalist, Kent Mills for an evening of fun where we will be performing in the elegant lobby of Mansión Alcázar on Simon Bolivar.
The performance is free (tips appreciated) and starts at 6 PM. We will be featuring many of your favorite songs. Come hear familiar songs that you know, love, and love to sing along to while making new friends with some songs from this century. Food and drinks are available (and encouraged). To help the Mansión prepare for food, drinks, and staff, please reserve to the email email@example.com If you would like to see the lobby menu, just e-mail us.
If you have attended similar concerts at the Mansión, then you know that you will have a wonderful time. If you haven’t attended a concert there, then this is going to be a wonderful surprise.
Every Wednesday 6 until 9 PM, Free, Calle Simon Boliver 12-55 y Tarqui, Cuenca.

“In the years I’ve lived in Cuenca I’ve found that the Jazz Society Café ’s contribution to the community is irreplaceable. It’s one of Cuenca’s most outstanding cultural gems and is unique among the city’s music venues. It’s a small miracle that a jazz venue of this caliber could exist here.” —Margaret Winter
“The best food and jazz I’ve experienced in Ecuador!” —Frank Pignon

Because many GringoPost readers may not be familiar with Cooperco, I’d like to introduce this exceptional co-operative to you. Established in Cuenca in 1965, Cooperco has, until now, been focused almost exclusively on servicing the Cuencano community. That exclusive emphasis has begun to shift. In addition to continuing to serve the Cuencano community Cooperco, in 2020, expanded its capability to now include a strong initiative serving Cuenca’s international community. Starting from a decidedly strong base, Cooperco has only grown stronger. It is the cooperative that offers CDs with not only high rates of return but unparalleled safety and security of principal. That’s a combination that is hard to beat.(more…)
