A Win for the Children, the Planet, and the Future:
Your generous donations to the Cuenca Soup Kitchen’s April diaper drive are providing children with eco-friendly Gelwear diapers that will last for years. Their parents receive training in the care and cleaning of these diapers.
Gelwear was founded by four students from Yachay Tech University, whose goal was to reduce the ecological impact caused by disposable diapers.
Their solution: an eco-friendly, hypoallergenic diaper made with an outer layer of bamboo and an insert made of sugarcane waste. Gelwear diapers are reusable and they biodegrade 100 times faster than disposable diapers.
This supports the health of the children and the environment while providing a long-term savings over disposables.
Supporting this Cuenca-based startup is an investment in the future of at-risk children, the future of their families, and the future of the planet.

It is winter in the Andes and families are in need of warm clothes. Our volunteers get your donations to the people who need them.
With data collected by our social worker, the volunteers choose clothes for the needs of each member of our families. This month, just in time for winter, we were able to include bedding as well.
Due to your generosity, this month we were able to share maternity and newborn clothes with Clínica Humanitaria Pablo Jaramillo, a foundation for young women and their newborns.
