Getting a vaccination on Saturday?

It is my understanding you can just show up at a vaccination site on Saturday (or Sunday?) if you have registered with your cedula and receive your jab. If anyone can confirm this, please do. Also, any insight if they are giving specific brands of vaccines at certain sites vs. other sites would be great!

My wife and I are hoping to get jabbed this Saturday, J&J would be first choice, but since we are begging, I guess we may not be choosing. Thanks in advance for your time.

Three-month-old puppy needs permanent home

A friend found this puppy on the street in a rain storm and rescued him. He couldn’t keep him and asked me to adopt him. I already have two dogs and could only agree to foster the puppy until a suitable, permanent home could be found. The puppy has been examined by a vet, had the first puppy shot and has been dewormed. He is very energetic and enjoys playing with my other dogs. We have started housebreaking. The prospective adopter needs to agree to have the puppy neutered when it is old enough.

I have named the puppy Guapo.

I have fotos but the file size is too large for GringoPost, Contact me and I will email the fotos to you.

Multi-services from Emilio of All Trades

Hello Everyone, This is Emilio and Franklin Morocho, as most of you know us. We’re here to invite you to take a look and join our Facebook group “Cuenca Emilio of All Trades, Handyman Construction.” Look at the recommendations on GringoPost as well as recommendations on Facebook, please, and you will see not only what kind of work we do but also how much our clients appreciate our services.

We offer our services when you need a plumbing job done, carpenters, metal welding, painting, remodeling, tile work, soldering, window screens, professional electrical work, interpreter, Dr. appointments, help getting a driver’s license, grocery shopping, paying bills, repairs or construction work and even property survey, and more. Just ask.

What if you have someone remodel your bathroom, installing new tiles and some months/years later discover a leak in the pipes in the wall behind those new tiles? It has happened here many times. A good contractor will not just install new ceramic tiles in your bathroom. He will look beyond the old stuff and investigate the condition of your pipes.

We set an exact time for our appointment and arrive promptly. We unload our supplies – soaps, waxes, cleansers, polishes, brooms, bucket, vacuum cleaners, rags, ladders, scaffolding – anything we need for your job. Recommendation for Monica Gonzaga, visa facilitator

Monica has done a beyond excellent work helping me with both my visas. First my temporary visa two years ago, and just recently with my permanent visa. Both times I’d be lost without her, as Ecuador (both times!) within a few weeks before my appointments changed their visa laws. Completely unforeseeable.

The first time I didn’t have Monica’s help until months later, and it wasn’t until I got in touch with her, we could sort things out. So that within what should have been my legal rights I could apply for another kind of visa (professional).

It has been very stressful at times, but thanks to Monica everything worked out well. Could not recommend her more. She’s apt, has contacts, care about her clients, and do everything in her (legal) power to help and find solutions. Hope you get in touch with her if you have any questions or need any help with your visa.

Sincerely, Julia W

Recommendation for HKIE Helping Kids in Ecuador, charity

I advertised on GringoPost for advice last week because my wife has a 3 yo relative that has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. She has a deformed foot so can’t walk unaided. She has been pushing a small plastic stool around but still smiling constantly.

I was hoping to find where to buy an adjustable walking frame or if someone knew who could make one for me.

Within a couple of hours I had two people from HKIE contact me separately (Mary Freeman and Jennifer Cory). For the last week they have been making extreme efforts to source something and I am pleased to say it should be arriving tomorrow. The family are very excited as they certainly didn’t have the money to get it. HKIE bought a different wheelchair for a disabled girl on the same day. They are very active.

If you ever wonder if your HKIE donation is well spent, I can guarantee you that it is. I will be donating today to HKIE and hope they are supported forever.

Belgian baker in Cuenca – Artisan Bakery Ackermans

Hello Gringo Post readers.
As I wrote in my last post (two weeks ago), I am Geert Ackermans, Belgian, living in Cuenca – Ecuador. I travelled a lot around the world. My work in the past had a lot to do with it, there I was a headsetter-supervisor at the airport of Brussels.

One of my biggest trips was to South America, where I met my wife, with whom I have two children now. When I came to Cuenca to live, I consumed bread of the hundreds of bakeries you can find on every corner. And as many (even Ecuadorians) I felt bad after eating it, abdominal distension, bad digestion, among others. I am a Belgian so bread is a very important food in my diet. So, I started making my own bread.
