Incorrect vaccine information

The photo shows that if you received your first dose at Coliseo Jefferson Perez, the second dose it shows you should go to Coliseo Campus Bicentenario Universidad del Azuay.*

We went there this morning 45 minutes before our scheduled appointment. We were told this was the wrong place and were redirected to the Universidad Politecnica. When we arrived there, the line was long, but when we reached the check-in desk, we were told this was the wrong place once more. Explaining we were directed here from the other university, they insisted we go to Coliseo Jefferson Perez.

Airfare prices

I found a company that saved me about $200 on my airfare. I searched all the normal ones, then found this site. Try it before you book. You may save some money. It’s called Skiplagged.

Last days to enroll in our ceramic classes

June classes will began the 8th and there will be a late entry the 15th of April for the undecided folks. Hurry up to sign in to create this month, now we only have spots in morning schedules, so don´t sleep on your power of creation, and join us to make beautiful pieces of art.

Ceramic Sculpture Classes
Artist Dogmos (a.k.a Juan José Cobos)

This type of course is more free (no experience needed), for those who want to create their own ideas, you can tell me what you are interested on and the class will be about what each person is seeking to develop, my focus is ceramic sculpture so I teach different modeling techniques with ceramics to create objects and sculptures, without the use of wheel or molds, only with your hands.

General Goal: Learn how to design or sketch an artifact or work of art, learn the basic building techniques for ceramic sculpting, to create whatever artifact or work of art that you plan on doing. Learn how to paint them with soil slips or glazes.

What we could create:

• Animal Mask or every type of mask.
• Incense Holders with faces, or patterns like feathers.
• Flute with animal or fruit shape
• Pipe of any animal or character possible.
• Plant Pot of any kind.
• Vases with faces, or with any pattern.
• 45cm height sculptures of any animal, plant or character.
• Ceramic dolls
• The options are infinite…

You can take four up to twelve classes per month. Each class has duration of one and a half to two hours. The number of pieces that you can make depends on the days you take. My personal recommendation is to work two classes minimum each week so you can work more freely and with continuity.

Plan A: 12 Monthly classes 3 per week.
$156. You get an apron for free.
Plan B: 8 Monthly classes 2 per week.
Plan C: 4 Monthly classes – 1 per week.

What does the price of the course cover:

• Materials: White clay, slips and glazes.
• Basic tools (Part of the workshop goods).
• Apron gift (just for plan A)
• Place to work with all health measures.
• Clean and cozy workshops with plants and good music, with a funny little dog. Bathroom in the workshop.
• Firing in a private kiln.

Slot 1: 8 to 10 AM. Wednesday to Friday.
Slot 2: 11 AM to 1 PM Wednesday to Friday.
Slot 3: 6 to 8 PM Tuesday to Friday.

@ Taller La Montaña en el Mar
Isabela St. 2-39 A, between Floreana St. and Española St.

The workshop has two main spaces to work in one indoors which has space for two persons to work and one outdoor garage with roof for the other two persons. And we now have a secondary space that is intended for glazing.

June 8th, from 8 to 10 AM, 11 AM to 1 PM and 6 to 8 PM, $64, Isabela 2-39A between Floreana and Española Near Colliseum Jefferson Perez, Cuenca.

Invitation to meditate from home, Sunday at 10:30

Nothing goes away until it’s taught us what we need to know.~ Pema Chödrön

Dear Cuenca Community,

Shambhala Cuenca would like to invite you to meditate together from your home this Sunday at 10:30 AM. There are many forms and methods of meditation – the form you choose doesn’t matter, however it’s a very good thing to remember our shared humanity as we sit quietly and become mindful for a period of time.

Online meditation sessions are available at

To practice online regularly with a group, you can also visit

Contact , and visit us online at and Facebook:

If you would like to use it, the form we use at Shambhala Cuenca is outlined below, and you can search “Donna Williams Meditation” for instructions on YouTube, or contact us for instructions.

Cuenca Shambhala Meditation Practice:

Note that times and practices noted are commonly used, but shorter or longer times are beneficial too. Do what feels right to you.

– Opening prayer or recitation.
– Seated meditation, 20 minutes.
– Walking meditation, 15 minutes.
– Seated meditation, 20 minutes.
– Closing prayer or recitation.

Start with an attitude of friendliness and loving kindness toward yourself. Then, if you’re able, take an upright posture, on a cushion on the floor or in a chair, with the spinal column vertical. Notice your body sensations and be aware of any feelings that arise (such as anxiety, tiredness, anger, passion, boredom, indifference, etc.). Begin to completely identify with your natural breathing, in and out, maintaining some awareness of your body/posture. When thoughts or emotions arise, taking you away from the present moment, you simply notice them, without any judgement. Simply label the thought/emotion as “thinking” and return to awareness of your body breathing. Sitting meditation is a practice of simply being, touching into your awareness of that being, and letting go without trying to attain anything.

For walking meditation, take the same approach, except place attention on your feet as they touch the earth, and your legs moving through space. Join the hands at waist level and walk at a speed only slightly slower than normal (see photo).

Traditionally it’s believed that merit is accrued by meditating. In Shambhala, we dedicate this merit to the benefit of all beings, using the closing text below. Feel free to use it, or any other of your choosing:

“May basic goodness dawn;
May the confidence of goodness be eternal;
May that goodness be all-victorious;
May that goodness bring profound, brilliant glory.”

“By this merit may all attain omniscience.
May it defeat the enemy, wrong-doing.
From the stormy waves of birth, old age, sickness, and death,
From the ocean of samsara, may I free all beings.”

Re: babysitter need for July/August 2021

Hello, We are looking for a reliable babysitter (or recommendations) for our 4-year-old daughter to start possibly the first week of July, 2021 through the end of August, 2021. The work would start out as 3 days per week and may go up to 5 days (Monday through Friday). The hours will typically be from 8 AM to 2 PM. Our ideal babysitter is someone who is nurturing, empathic, and with a good understanding of child development. We also prefer someone who can help our daughter improve her Spanish, as she currently understands it well but is not comfortable speaking it. Both parents will be present and working from home. Please email us if you are interested or can recommend someone. In your email, please send your salary request, references, and best times to set up a zoom interview.

Best wishes,

Looking for best, uninterrupted fiber optic service in Cuenca

We’ve been looking to upgrade our service to fiber optic and wonder if you might share your experience with your internet provider. Is it cost effective? Do you find numerous interruptions throughout the day with it? Does the contract allow you to get out of it if the service is inadequate? Were you able to contract directly with the company or did you have to pay a “facilitator” to get signed up?

We are on the western side of Cuenca.

Thank you.

What nice, sunny days

The weekend is upon us and once again we are able to go outside and enjoy the warm air. But when we go back into our homes and the sun shines in corners we haven’t seen clearly in the last few months due to the cloudy skies, suddenly we become aware that those corners aren’t quite as clean as we would like them to be! Uh-oh.

Edvi Limpieza Total to the rescue. We don’t need a contract, or additional payments to IESS and SRI because we are a registered cleaning company. We come, do the work that you request, give you a factura and receive your payment. Then, we leave. When you need cleaning again, you can call us for another appointment.

We can clean a variety of items in your home and we bring our own tools and weapons to attack whatever dust or grime is affecting your home. Within moments of arriving, we begin to work. The three of us organize our tasks and work as efficiently as possible, always taking care not to bang the furniture or walls. We follow your directions and clean as you instruct – TV room first, that’s fine with us. Or maybe you want the kitchen first. Perfect. and so on.

We have been cleaning Cuenca for an incredible 16 years now, always employing the latest techniques and security measures to ensure your safety. Mateo can translate if you don’t speak Spanish.

Don’t hesitate to call us for your cleaning needs. Send a WhatsApp message with the phone number listed below. We’ll come, review the job, and give you a fair estimate. Recommendations upon request and also in GringoPost.

Condominium, houses, towers for cats

The cat by nature is a very curious and playful animal. Scratching is one of his “hobbies” that helps him file his nails and is a way of channeling his anxiety. If your cat scratches the sofa at home for any reason, you do not have to be angry. Perhaps you are not offering him another alternative or you do not know that he needs a toy to channel his energy. That is why you have to know the star toy, the scratching post for cats.

– The scraper helps keep your nails healthy and strong.

– It serves as a refuge for you when you seek tranquility.

– One of the most important benefits it provides to your cat is that it keeps him active and helps him avoid health problems.

– Helps calm your instinct for curiosity.

– Strong, solid and stable, all in wood.

Recommendation for Pei’s Potstickers, Chinese food delivery

I had seen Pei’s ads a few times and thought I’d give her food a try when we were packing up for a trip to el Oriente recently. I contacted her a couple of days in advance and placed my order through WhatsApp for delivery the day before my departure.

I knew I’d be too busy packing to worry about what to cook that evening and Pei made it just so easy. And delicious. Pei’s cooking is superb! The dumplings were fresh and tasty, as were the noodles and veggies. But my favorite was the fried tofu. I had been craving tofu for days, and hers really hit the spot.

She delivered right on time and had no trouble finding our location. I will definitely order from her again and I highly recommend her to all.

Recommendation for M&E Pet Sitting, pet sitting services

Mateo and Elizabeth are two veterinary students who form a pet sitting service. They are willing to stay at your house or drop in for feedings and attention. They stayed in my home for 5 weeks to care for my dog. He is a rescue, and has protection/aggression issues. Mateo and Elizabeth worked with him for 3 weeks before I left, so that he would be calm and comfortable with them. I couldn’t have asked for better care. I highly recommend them.

Café Ñucallacta – Cuenca´s favorite coffeehouse

Stop by our café any day of the week. We have great espresso based or infusion beverages and juices. We also have traditional pastries and fresh new vegan/gluten free options that we are constantly trying out. And of course, it wouldn´t be a café in Ecuador without homemade breakfast and fast food items. All prepared by any of our three University of Cuenca (Gastronomy) trained cooks.

We still have some fun store products, mainly from Trader Joes, available at our café. We are Cuenca´s very own artisan coffee roaster. We use some of the best coffee in Ecuador and roast in small batches so that you receive at its optimum in flavor and aroma. Coffee prices are $5.50 to $6 per 400gram bag depending on roast level.

Check out our menu online or visit us. You can also order via WhatsApp. Hope to hear from you soon.

Every day starting at 8:30 AM, Hermano Miguel 562 entre J. Jaramillo y H. Vasquez
