Theater: “I, the Actor” suspended

Dear public,

Although I have been emphatic in exerting resistance to continue doing theater in times of pandemic, for the first time after 8 performances in the city of Cuenca, we are obliged to suspend the performances in English of the play “I, the Actor “.

We are currently in the most critical moment of contagion, therefore it is not a good time to perform the functions scheduled for April 27 and 28, at the Alfonso Carrasco Room. We have decided to suspend them until further notice. We hope for the greatest possible understanding in such uncertain and difficult times for all.

Always yours,

Loss of Perspective

“Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So, Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, ‘May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.’” 1 Kings 19:1-2
Loss of perspective leads to confusion. Elijah confronted idolatry and the forces of evil with courage and boldness. He aggressively opposed the prophets of Baal and Asherah. Elijah was able to raise his hands in victory after the fire of God fell on Mt. Carmel to consume the sacrifice. The public victory had been won.

Privately, Elijah shifted from faith in God to fear of the wicked woman, Jezebel. Elijah confronted the prophets with utter courage and now is running for his life as a coward because of a threat from Jezebel. Elijah displayed confusion as a result of losing his perspective. He falls into deep depression.

What are some causes of depression? Frustration can lead to depression. Frustration over the circumstances you find yourself in can lead to depression. Sometimes frustration related to a strained relationship can cause depression. Fear can certainly bring you down into the pit of despair. When you stop viewing life through the eyes of faith and start viewing life through the eyes of fear, depression seeps in. Fatigue has a way of opening the door to depression. When you are exhausted, you can quickly lose perspective. Then, of course, there is the bandit of financial pressure. That kind of perpetual pressure can lead you down the alley of depression.

Do you currently have God’s perspective on your life and on your circumstances? Have you experienced any level of depression in recent days? There’s hope!

Clarification about the Covid 19 vaccination

Dear Expats, I am not saying that I have the Covid vaccine and that I am taking care of that. I am saying that those who need help to register and that we accompany them to receive the Covid vaccine, which is public and free by the Ecuadorian Government, to contact me, I can help you register and accompany you to get vaccinated.

I also want to inform you since the news says that public and private hospitals are at their máx with people infected with Covid, since it is the case of some of my clients.

I want to let you know that if you test positive for Covid and you have nowhere to go or if your insurance does not cover you, I have a Dr. friend who can come to see you at your home and give you treatment and if you need to enter they have their own private clinic where they can treat you,
If this is your case, contact me. We can help you. Monica Gonzaga Facilitator is here to help the entire Expats community in Ecuador.

Stay connected with “The Buddy Circle”

The Buddy Circle is an easy-to-use emergency monitoring system with which you and a chosen group of friends or family can remain aware of each other’s wellbeing. It has been designed as an automatic daily check-in system, on your cell phone, at a time of your choosing.

Once you set a time to be notified, if you have not checked in by then, the system will ask you to check in at that time on a daily basis. If you fail to check in, the system will attempt to contact you two more times, at 30-minute intervals. If there is no response after three tries, it will alert your contacts that there is a possible problem. It will also provide your address and a Google map of your location.

The program is available now in English and Spanish in both the Apple and Android app stores. It may also be accessed through one of the following links:
There is currently no charge to the user.

Brown ½ pound of King Smokehouse sausage (Regular, Spicy, or Chicken) and drain excess fat. Put 8 ounces cream cheese into a bowl, add the sausage and 1 Tablespoon ground sage (or any savory spice you prefer). Get you hands in and mix it up. Remove stems from Baby Bella Mushrooms and stuff each mushroom with the cheese mixture – heaping it up in the middle. Place in a greased pan and bake at 350/180 for 20 minutes or until mushrooms are tender. (I use a mini muffin pan and grease with butter, gives a great taste to the mushrooms). Come in and visit us at our new location with the front entrance on Avenida Las Americas and the back door on Calle Los Alamos 2 blocks from Ordonez Lasso on the Rio Tomebamba side. Two blocks south of Super Maxi Las Americas. The new Tranvia has a stop about one block from us on Las Americas.

Next door are our great neighbors El Calvo Restaurant with Spanish Cuisine and El Jeque with Middle Eastern Cuisine. And also La Tapita Espanola Restaurant entrance on Av Las Americas.

There is also a new Pizza and Beer business called 11 Cerveza and Pizza. Great places to hang out with outdoor seating too.
