Dakota for Adoption

Dakota is a lively 5 month old puppy that was rescued by a caring Ecuadorian lady. The rescuer does not have the space or finances required to care for Dakota permanently.

Dakota is adorable! She is a French Poodle & Labrador mix. She will probably grow to small-medium to medium size. She has had her first set of vaccinations and has been dewormed. She will be sterilized prior to adoption!

The rescuer says she is extremely sociable and her favorite hobbies are sleeping, eating, playing and running! She is probably a bit too rambunctious for children under 5 years old at this time.

If you’re interested in meeting sweet Dakota, please contact us.

Vision statement: St. Christopher Episcopal Mission

In the future, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Mission (SCEM), in a collaborative successful partnership with Mision Sagrada Familia, will be a welcoming gathering place, a spiritual center in Cuenca and the surrounding neighborhood of a theologically humble group of believers worshipping God, meeting Jesus and demonstrating the practical love of Jesus to members, visitors and the poor.

Through action, SCEM will demonstrate what it means to be a follower of Jesus with a commitment to serve those in need by doing good works quietly, without fanfare or notice while fulfilling the question “what would Jesus do”?

SCEM will be a growing force for good in the community, known for outreach ministry.

SCEM, with the help of a Priest will offer Christian educational activities for spiritual growth through liturgical worship, group discussions, learning, and education filled with the Spirit of God’s love for us in our loving hearts and minds.

Visitors will experience Christ centered individuals within an inclusive, multi-cultural, bi-lingual, and multi-generational worshipping community of believers, with close bonds between members, committed to social justice while helping others.

SCEM offers an Episcopal liturgical worship service and experience to the community.

Looking for a wardrobe selling cheaply

I am moving from the usual suburban rentals with built-ins into a rustic residence with none, on a shoestring. Most important for starters is a wardrobe. My best quote for a small, cheaply made, to order was $365. No can do.

If you have, or know of, a reasonable one in good condition. someone is prepared to sell for much less, I’d much appreciate hearing of it. Many thanks.

Help me help my friend

A little while ago, I asked for help for my friend. Specifically, she needs to work in the afternoons. She lost her husband, has two school-age children, and her morning job only pays $200 – not enough to keep a roof over her head and the children fed. Please contact me if you have any jobs she could do for you.

What can she do? She doesn’t speak English but is able to use Google Translate. She can tutor, cook, clean, and do gardening or other tasks around the home or office. There is nothing like having a native speaker of Spanish assist your child with their Spanish classes. If you can’t employ her for a whole week, even an afternoon or two would help and hopefully someone else could employ her the other days.

Thank you for caring.

Looking for information about stimulus money

I am looking for information about the 3rd round of stimulus money ($1400). I received the first round ($1200) in July, and I received the 2nd round ($600) in January… but I have heard nothing about the 3rd round being deposited. Has anyone with social security retirement benefits direct deposit into Banco Guayaquil received the stimulus money in their accounts yet?

Thanks to all, but I am not interested in hearing about your Schwab or Capital One accounts. I am not interested in hearing that your stimulus money was deposited into your US bank accounts. The question (again) is quite simple: has anyone here in Cuenca who has social security retirement benefits direct deposited into Banco Guayaquil received the 3rd round of stimulus money?

Go ahead, make my day… thank you in advance for your help.

High-quality massage therapy, $10 off your first massage

Come and experience a top-quality massage at affordable prices. Beautiful room, relaxing warm environment, heated massage table and the most comfortable face cradle money can buy.

About Jan: Considered by many to be a “World-Class” massage therapist, Jan Wallace has been performing massage therapy since her original licensing by the Oregon State Board of Health in 1983. She has studied almost every massage technique out there, and over the course of 30 years, blended the best-of-the best into her own massage style that’s an incredibly relaxing, therapeutic, invigorating, and an almost “spiritual” experience.

She can perform very light to very deep tissue techniques, and encourages the client to express their preferences, so she can create a custom experience for them.

Regular price: $40 for 90 minutes
New client’s first visit is always $10 off this price, therefore $30
Schedule at: LuzVitale@gmail.com
Monday thru Friday: 2 PM and 4 PM, (and 6 PM if necessary)

“I highly recommend you experiencing a massage with Jan Wallace, an excellent masseuse. I cannot give her enough accolades. Being the physically active woman that I am, I have had many massages in my lifetime and she easily ranks in the top 1%. No kidding. Give her a try. You’ll be so happy you did.” Eve Donald, Cuenca cuencabutterfly@yahoo.com

“Jan gave me a fantastic massage. Her apartment is easy to find and the massage room is very spa-like. She’s easy to communicate with and makes sure you’re comfortable at all times. I highly recommend her.” Sandy Brown, Cuenca sandynbrown535@yahoo.com

“I had a great massage experience with Jan. She listens to your needs and pressure preference. The atmosphere is quiet, comfortable and relaxing. She is conveniently located. I would highly recommend a massage from Jan.” Adrien Winger, Cuenca gatawinger@gmail.com

“I had overstressed a muscle in my back last week and was in a lot of pain. Jan lives in the same building as I do so I called her and she was able to fit me into her schedule. After 90 minutes with Jan, the pain was gone! I was hoping simply for the pain to lessen, but it was totally gone. Needless to say, I think she is great and highly recommend her!” Linda Chase, Cuenca

“I had three or four massages with Jan while I was in Cuenca a few months ago, just after she opened. I would second the comment above about having had many massages in my lifetime and the fact that Jan is in the top 1%. I’m a retired medial professional and can’t wait for my next visit with Jan. Permaculture and sustainable Living

Have you ever dreamed of living a sustainable life in harmony with nature?
Have you dreamed of producing your own food, regardless of the space you have?
Do you want to live in a house made with earth or another Bioconstruction method?
Do you want to use renewable and clean energy sources (Sun, Wind, Water)?

Maybe at some point you have felt despair because you want to achieve it and you don’t know what the first steps are or you can’t find the right guide?

I, Andrés, understand you, because I experienced the same problem. That is why I made the decision to learn and become a Permacultor, to change my life and also help other people to change theirs.

Over time, I have gained experience with urban projects and also with farms of different sizes in various parts of Ecuador (Costa, Sierra, Amazonia). From the Permaculture’s design (Report and Plans) to the implementation and start-up of the project.

Based on my experience, let me tell you that this is not for you, if:
– If you are not in search of a true life change
– If you don’t want a better life and a better planet
– If you are not interested in nature
– If you are indifferent to the damage that human beings cause to our planet
– If you are not interested in your health and change the eating habits you currently have

On the other hand, this is for you if:
– You want to make a healthier life change
– If you want to use the free spaces of your house or farm to produce your own food or as part of your personal economy
– If you want to develop an ecological and sustainable farm
– If you want to stop depending on non-renewable energies and stop paying a consumption to companies (no matter how minimal) in order to take care of our planet.

That is why I am personally trying to put into practice what Mahatma Gandhi already told us: “Be the Change you want to be in the World”

Do you want to let more time pass or do you want to act right now?

If you decide to take action, I can gladly help you.

Contact me and we can have 45 minutes of conversation and advice completely free to find the best solution for you.

To do so, you can:
1. Schedule your free conversation and advice through the following link: https://andresbatrespermacultura.appointlet.com
2. You can also send me an email to reserve
3. Or you can send me a message by WhatsApp or telegram to the phone number reported in this message.

I’ll be waiting for you.

Welcome to the Jungle – Nunkui store/gallery

The Nunkui project arises from the need to protect the culture of Amazonian indigenous peoples and their territory as it is their home, food source and spirituality. However, the pressure on its natural resources by logging, mining, and oil companies put the Amazon in grave danger.

We believe in alternate local developments generating a sustainable economy that protect the sources of water, the forest, and the traditions of the native peoples.

We are proud to be able to show the world what the Amazon is and represents, its traditions and culture embodied in Mokawas, Tinajas, Kallanas (ceramic pieces), Changuinas, paneras (woven fiber), figures of jungle spirits, and animal figures such as tapir, parrot, jaguar, armadillo, turtle, etc. Each hand-crafted piece, decorated using natural dyes, is rich of ancestral and symbolic meaning.

Nunkui gallery store aims for all people to connect with the Amazon and its protection, because we know that what is loved will be preserved.

We are a small project, full of good energy, eager to get ahead despite the difficulties. In our beautiful gallery shop located in Cuenca historic district, you can find unique pieces handcrafted by Amazonian Indians that you can make part of your home or as a unique gift with territorial identity all coming from fair trade. We also offer for sale: Amazonian Arabica coffee, dark chocolate, panela confit ginger, organic cinnamon, dredger’s blood, guayusa, dried pitahaya, craft beer, natural soaps, natural cosmetics and more.

Our responsibility is great, because the 18 communities of 5 indigenous groups (Shuar, Achuar, Kichwa, Waorani and Andoa), in 4 provinces of the Ecuadorian Amazon trust the Nunkui project and we will not disappoint them.

Roof got holes? Tired of putting out pots and pans to catch the drips?

Does your roof have holes? Tired of putting out pots and pans to catch the drips? I know the rains have subsided a bit and what a relief that is. But, if everything goes according to history, April also offers the opportunity for heavy rains. Before they get going again, perhaps we can help solve the leaks and preserve your roof and ceilings.

At H.M. Construction, Emilio of All Trades, we don’t just repair leaks, remember, we are the source for multiple professional resources: computer repair, installation or repair of fencing or heated flooring, plumbing, metal working, repairing walls, ceilings, roofs, or tiles, door locks, doing surveys, doing carpentry, making and installing window screens, and cement work. Just call to see what we can do for you. We can even remodel your home, making it more accessible, if need be.

Let me know your needs. I am here, willing and able to help you.

Recommendation for David Jackson, technical support

I was in need of a VPN and there are so many out there that I reached out to My Cuenca Nerd … aka David Jackson, for some help. I told him my needs and he listened. I wanted something easy and efficient mostly for US TV. He suggested a very new device called Stream Locator.

Today he set it up in my house and it does exactly what I hoped it would do. Simple enough to use and provides me with all I need. If you are like me and not tech savvy, David is the person to help you. Also he will be an official distributer in Cuenca of these devices. It costs $84 a year for the service and the device is included. The quality is exceptional.

Any questions ask David or you can Google Stream Locator. I think you will find it a different type of VPN.

Recommendation for Hotel Pegasus

After looking for a place we could call our “go to” place for staying in Cuenca for shopping, appointments, visits from our home in Yunguilla, we found it. Love location if one wants to stay in Centro. Victor – owner – is great and speaks great English since living in US for years, clean, secure since Victor lives on property, no street noise heard, hot water in washbowl as well as shower, love wall mural paintings. We stayed in room over-looking patio area – great room. Looking for clean, peaceful, safe, and friendly place when visiting Cuenca. Give this a try.

Recommendation for Mike Coffey: Massage – Physical therapist

Last week I seen a recommendation for a massage from Mike Coffey and decided to book an appointment. I’m so glad I did. Wonderful doesn’t even begin to describe my massage.

Not only is Mike a massage therapist he is a physical therapist, which in my opinion lets
me know that he has a better understanding of the body and knows how to undo the knots I didn’t even know I had.

It’s been four days since my massage and I still feel fantastic.
I highly recommend you to see him for a massage.
