Check out the first pieces of the Ceramic Sculpture Workshop

Check out some of my student’s pieces of the March’s class. I really liked the way of creating of each one of them, they were a really good class. Do you think you would want to join us to create? Don’t miss the new course for April, that will begin the 7th of April.

Please share with a fellow that will like to create in ceramics.

April’s course will began on the 7th of April. Hope you can come and create great things.

Ceramic Sculpture Classes
Artist Dogmos (a.k.a Juan José Cobos)

This type of course is more free (no experience needed), for those who want to create their own ideas, you can tell me what you are interested in and the class will be about what each person is seeking to develop, my focus is ceramic sculpture so I teach different modeling techniques with ceramics to create objects and sculptures, without the use of wheel or molds, only with your hands.

General Goal:

Learn how to design or sketch an artifact or work of art, learn the basic building techniques for ceramic sculpting, to create whatever artifact or work of art that you plan on doing. Learn how to paint them with soil slips or glazes.
What we could create:

• Animal Mask or every type of mask.
• Incence Holders with faces, or patterns like feathers.
• Flute with animal or fruit shape
• Pipe of any animal or character possible.
• Plant Pot of any kind.
• Vases with faces, or with any pattern.
• 45cm height sculptures of any animal, plant or character.
• Ceramic dolls
• The options are infinite….

You can take four up to twelve classes per month. Each class has duration of one and a half to two hours. The number of pieces that you can make depends on the days you take. My personal recommendation is to work two classes minimum each week so you can work more freely and with contiunity.

Plan A: 4 Monthly classes – 1 per week. One Utility Ceramic, or one small Sculpture or mask.
Plan B: 8 Monthly classes 2 per week. Two masks or One large sculpture (45cm).
Plan C: 12 Monthly classes 3 per week for advanced sculptural modeling.
$156. You get an apron for free.
What does the price of the course cover:
• Materials: Black, terracota clay, slips and glazes.
• Basic tools (Part of the workshop goods).
• Apron gift (just for plan)
• Place to work with all health measures.
• Clean and cozy workshops with plants and good music, with a funny little dog. Bathroom in the workshop.
• Firing in a private kiln.
Group 1: 8 to 10 AM
Group 2: 11 AM to 1 PM
Group 3: 6 to 8 PM
From Wedneday to Friday.
at Taller La Montaña en el Mar
Isabela St. 2-39 A, between Floreana St. and Española St.

The workshop has two main spaces to work in one indoors which has space for two persons to work and one outdoor garage with roof for the other two persons. There will be space just for 12 persons, 4 persons each schedule.

If you take 12 classes the price $13, if you take 8 classes it is $14, and if you take 4 classes it is $16 every class. Every price is for instruction, materials and firing in kiln.
You can pay cash, bank deposit or transfer, if you pay until the 5th of April you get the early bird discount and every class will be $13; it won’t matter if you take 4 or 8 classes. Plan A will cost $52 and Plan B will cost $104

Part time work needed: tutor, cook, clean, garden, shop, teach

My friend is looking for work from 2 to 6 PM daily. She is a 42-year-old teacher with two teenagers who is currently earning a measly $200 a month. Her children are in school and she works in the morning but needs jobs in the afternoon to provide enough income for the family to eat properly and have the bare essentials, and to help pay the bills. She doesn’t speak English but is able to use Google Translate. She can tutor, cook, clean, and do gardening or other tasks around the home or office. There is nothing like having a native speaker of Spanish assist your child with their Spanish classes. If you can’t employ her for a whole week, even an afternoon or two would help and hopefully someone else could employ her the other days.

We just had the Memorial Service for Martha Mays at Republica Sur. Staff are wonderful and we had a successful event. However, my husband and I also ate there and the food was great, He loved the spaghetti bolognese and I had the garlic shrimp appetizer that comes with a salad and 3 toasted slices of baguette, making it a complete meal. I also pigged out on the moist chocolate cake and as good as it was, I couldn’t finish it.

Recommendation for Dr. Nataly Pesantez, veterinarian

If you want the perfect vet for your fur-babies; someone who is very, very knowledgeable, you have to call Nataly. She is exceptional! Nataly will go to your home, bring meds and make your baby all better. If you are traveling, she will board and groom your animals. Nataly speaks English and is very responsive.

Nataly has a heck of an educational background. She was going to be a doctor (like many in her family) and went through 5 years of med school. During her residency, she decided she would rather be a vet and started all over again! Another 5 years of vet school. Trust me, she knows her stuff. You will love her. We do. With 4 dogs, she is at our home often.

Recommendation for Leonardo Duran, computer/phone tech

Technology stresses me out. I have no talent or interest in it, but opting out is no longer a viable option.

Plan B is a good Tech. I’ve endured many techs since sending my first email in 1999. Some of them were good. Even so they seemed to wing it, which elevated my blood pressure. I’ve been charged $100 per hour while my smiling tech was on hold with tech-support for an hour (in the US).

Fast forward— last week, right on time, Leonardo Duran steps into my abode with a smile and contagious energy. He went straight to work on my long list of issues. He already knew exactly what to do! Joy dispelled my stress! Within 30 minutes he had diagnosed and remedied all my printer problems and a dozen other things on my list. He also taught me a few tricks and shortcuts — empowering me.

Being almost deaf, I asked if he knew how to get captions on my phone. He said it was impossible— but a few minutes later he proved himself wrong! I didn’t have a chance to get stressed. I suddenly had a free additional US phone number with captions! It is working wonderfully. However, you have to be deaf or hearing impaired to qualify for this service.

Even with the phone streaming into my hearing aids, it is mostly impossible to resolve things with a phone if texting is not an option. Thanks to captions, I am getting those stressful calls taken care of.

He also showed me ways to improve comprehension in other listening situations with additional settings on my phone.

Oh, and Leonardo has spent years in the US and his English is perfect and his fees are very reasonable.

I’ve written reviews before, but Leonardo has earned a praise report!

Recommendation for Dr. Marco Encalada, dentist

As you know the Rolls Royce is the best automobile, I give the same rating for Dr Marco Encalada, who is doing my implants for me. No pain – nothing. His professional manners are outstanding and the quality of his workmanship is impeccable. I highly recommend him. He was referred to me by my Ecuadorian friend whose family use him. If you’re looking for quality and professional work, he is your dentist. If you’re looking for food stamp prices move on. Quality costs.

Holiday Hours for El Mundo Orgánico

First, we want to thank all of our customers and vendors for helping us exceed our goals for the year thus far. We really appreciate your business and friendship. During Easter weekend we will be closed Saturday, April 3rd and Sunday, April 4th and will reopen Monday, April 5th.

Also, we would like to remind you that we have new products at El Mundo Orgánico

El Mundo Orgánico is now featuring not only some new, fresh and delicious cheeses, similar to only those imported from outside of Ecuador—you know, “real cheese”—but also some wonderful, tasty crackers made from, of all things…wait for it…cauliflower and walnuts. You have to taste these crackers to believe them.

The cheeses, available in-store and for delivery with your next Build-Your-Own Basket order, are a Mexican cheese, “Queso de Oaxaca”, and an authentic “Mozzarella” cheese. The crackers must be ordered at least two days before your delivery.

The “Queso de Oaxaca” is a delicious, mild-flavored cheese made here in Cuenca by a Mexican gentleman who knows his cheeses. In this case, he has made this “Queso de Oaxaca” as a string cheese.

The “Mozzarella” cheese, made by the same gentleman, is authentic, made following an Italian recipe. This “Mozzarella” is suitable for shredding for your favorite Italian dish, whether that might be lasagna or pizza, or sliced for your chicken parmigiana and “Caprese Salad”.

These two cheeses can be purchased in (approximate) 250g, 500g and 1 kilo size packages. The prices are as follows: Queso de Oaxaca (1 kilo/2.2 lbs. = $13.50; .500g/1.1 lbs.= $7.50; and 250g/.55 lbs. = $5.50) and Mozzarella Cheese (1 kilo/2.2 lbs. = $11.00; .500g/1.1 lbs. = $6.25; and 250g/.55 lbs. = $4.50).

And don’t plan another meal featuring a lomo fino de res (beef tenderloin) without adding a sauce made from our freshly prepared horseradish (2 oz jar for $6.50)! Using our horseradish to make a creamy sauce to enhance the flavor of the beef would remind you of your fine beef meals back home.

Don’t have the beef for such a meal? No worries! We can add a tasty, tender (yes, I said “tender”) and juicy lomo fino to your order. The lomo fino (beef tenderloin, $8/lb, whole, 2 to 5 lbs), bife chorizo (small steak, approx. 1.1 lbs, $7.50/lb), and fresh, not corned, beef brisket ($4.50/lb, minimum order 2 lbs) come from grass-fed beef in the Amazon, bred for their tenderness, quality and low-fat content.

Oh, I almost forgot. To add a tasty side dish to your next meal, try our organic iceberg lettuce ($.75), cut into quarters and smothered in a creamy (real) Roquefort Bleu salad dressing (bottle, approx. 100ml, $4.00/ea) and topped with flavorful bacon bits (naturally cured with spices and smoked over applewood, ½ lb sliced bacon, $5.50, or Bacon Bits, 1 lb, $5.50)—a mouthwatering combination of flavors that can’t be beat! What doesn’t taste better with cheese or bacon?

To purchase items for a Build-Your-Own Basket for home delivery, our full “Product and Pricing List” and “Ordering Instructions” are available on the Home Page of our website ( In addition to many fresh, organic and natural fruits and veggies, we also offer a wide variety of very tasty vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, sugar-free, gluten-free foods and biodegradable products.

Find our store location on Google Maps by searching for “El Mundo Orgánico” (not “Mundo Orgánico,” or you will end up in the wrong place).

Remember, if you have a special request for a fruit or vegetable (or, for that matter, any other edible product for yourself or your pets) that is not on our product list, please let us know, and we will do our best to find it for you.

Have a great day.
