Home needed for 11-week-old male pup

A loving home is needed for a soft, fluffy black and white puppy. He is trained to use puppy pads and loves to play with other dogs. We cannot keep him due to the fact that we already have six rescue dogs. If you take him and it doesn’t work out, we will gladly take him back and search for another home. We will also pay for half of the cost to neuter him when he is old enough.

Your help comes to Chunchi!

Why Chunchi? It was devastated by a massive landslide. No lives were lost but the victims’ lives were devastated. We asked for your help and you answered.

Your donations filled a truck. Yesterday morning your donations were delivered. You gave the people of Chunchi clothing, bedding, diapers, personal hygiene items, and 200 food kits.

In partnership with you, Cuenca Soup Kitchen Volunteers and Supporters, Hearts of Gold Foundation, Rosana Malo, Club Rotario Tomebamba, and many other Cuenca organizations and individuals, the victims of the Chunchi landslide received some much needed aid yesterday.

Thank you,

Des Dizney, Bill O’Brien, and Smith

Bob Dylan’s Pals and Robert Leaman Sanders Story

“Bob Dylan’s Pals and Me “
By
Robert Leaman Sanders

So, my friend says: “Robert, I’ll show you some cool moves on guitar. Only a rare few in the whole world know ‘em. I got Bobby to teach me. I told Bob, hey, look, I gave you my bedroom to live in. The least you could do is show me some moves. Bob caved in and gave me guitar lessons.”

That’s what my friend, Peter, told me back in New York. Well, dear reader, I picked my friend Peter’s brain. I mastered those very same cool sounding variations of guitar chords he got from Dylan and I went out and started singing and playing my own original songs way back when. I played what I call The Greenwich Village Circuit -The Gaslight Lounge, Kettle-of-Fish, Paul Colby’s Bitter End, Gurdie’s Folk City, the whole bit. But, this reminiscence is not really about me. It is more about how I crossed paths with the incomparable Bob Dylan even if only a trifle. One night, when my band and I had just finished playing a set at a private party in Harlem, New York, this kid, by the name of Peter, comes up to me and he says: “I want to manage you.” I said to him: “Good. You can manage me. You can get me a recording contract like as soon as possible.” The kid says: “Okay.” I said: “Do you know anything about the music business?” Peter says: “Meet me at my mom’s house tomorrow. She’ll tell you.”

So I go. I meet his mom. Her name was Eve McKenzie. Eve was a Broadway stage show costume designer. At the time, she was working with the great Jerome Robbins – Broadway’s West Side Story. When I got there, Eve and her super nice guy husband, Mac, gave me a quick tour of their modest apartment, then they sat me down at the kitchen table. Mac poured me a whiskey – in quite a dignified way. I began sipping. Eve says to me: “My son, Peter, thinks you have a marvelous singing voice. “I said: “Thank you. “She says: “Okay. We, in this family, know a little something about show business and musicians because, well…”and then Mrs. McKenzie began to tell me things that were certainly interesting and truly amusing. She told me of how her son, Peter, volunteered to give up the bedroom he had grown up in in that apartment to Bob Dylan when Bob first arrived in New York and started playing the coffee houses near Washington Square Park of The Village.

About: Two South Africans set out to discover what happened to their unlikely musical hero, the mysterious 1970s rock ‘n’ roller, American Sixto Rodriguez. Searching for Sugar Man tells the incredible true story of Rodriguez, the greatest ’70s rock icon who never was. Discovered in a Detroit bar in the late ’60s by two celebrated producers struck by his soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics, they recorded an album which they believed would secure his reputation as the greatest recording artist of his generation. In fact, the album bombed and the singer disappeared into obscurity amid rumors of a gruesome on-stage suicide. But a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and, over the next two decades, he became a phenomenon.

The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation leads them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist known as Rodriguez.

We are on the Tranvia’s path; La Cuadra’s station. Check us out on TripAdvisor or Google Reviews.

Inca Tours – new tourism business by Emilio

Easter weekend is coming soon at the beginning of April. Good Friday is a national holiday and banks and other businesses will be closed – would be a great time to visit some of the sights and sites of Ecuador. Why not book now?

You may remember that I told you about my new tourism business which I just opened. I have a licensed tourism van (no getting stopped on the road for being “illegal” and ending up toting your suitcase until the next ride comes along – this still happens!) and a licensed engineer/guide who can take you around Ecuador to see the things you want to see. We can accommodate 7 passengers with biosecurity measures.

What is a tourism engineer? He is someone who has studied tourism in the University and has received the degree of Ingeniero – engineer. He knows all the ins and outs of touring Ecuador.

Just contact me and we’ll arrange the details according to your desires – not the driver’s wishes. It will be a great trip.

Calle Canton Saraguro s/n and Manuel Arturo Cisneros, Cuenca. By appointment.

Temporary or permanent visa process, Ecuador

Hi all, I am offering help in the visa process, to live in Ecuador. First migration related questions, free consultancy to my email: ulisesacostac@gmail.com

Sure is rainy! It makes us quite muddy, doesn’t it?

While a long walk on a rainy day may seem ideal to some, not all of us appreciate getting wet from top to bottom and we might prefer to stay in our cozy homes, playing with a Kong toy provided by one of our loving parents. Do you agree?

And come to think of it, having wet, muddy feet when we come back to the house makes us feel bad when we get everything all dirty. One of those great foot washers that La Mia Mascota Pet Shop and Veterinary sells in various sizes would make us feel so much better. We just stick our foot in, wash it, and it comes out clean! What a marvel. I sure hope Mom and/or Dad will get one and show me how to use it so I can be happy coming home after a walk. Even the sidewalks are muddy these days, so I can’t help dragging in dirt.

La Mia Mascota Pet Shop has all kinds of goodies for me – a new jacket for cool days, maybe even a rain coat, a new bed, foood! Yes, I like food. They often have specials on my favorite brands, too, and sell the best food for my breed.

And for those cats that think they are so cool staying in the house all day when I have to go outside to take care of things (you know what I mean?) – they even have stuff for them – beds, scratching pads, food, toys.

Let’s not forget that they also have medicine for all kinds of ailments, rashes, ticks, fleas.

I hope you’ll go visit them soon. Great veterinary service and pet shop all in one as well as a pet shop right outside of Supermaxi Las Americas.

Sincerely,
Your beloved and loving dog

Recommendation for Giovanni Vallejo/Visa Angels, visa services

Initially I was going to get paperwork from the States to change my status and change my visa. However, Covid put the skids to that so I decided just to renew my expiring cedula. I won’t go into the involved process in depth.

Jodie suggesed that I work with Gio during this process and I have nothing but compliments for the way my process was handled. There were some hiccups, but this was due to new immigration requirements. Gio was always punctual. When I needed paperwork he sent me a WhatsApp, I obtained the paperwork and forwarded it to him. There were a couple of occasions that they needed resubmitting but he always advised far enough in advance that we met our deadlines.

I have a new visa and cedula thanks to the sterling work that both Jodie and Gio did and I would recommend them very highly.

Come one, come all “Gran Feria”, March 23 at El Mundo Orgánico

We will have a “Gran Feria” at our store location on Tuesday, 23 March. Many of your favorite stores and sources, such as the Cuenca Shop, King’s Smokehouse (smoked pork products), Hoppe Café (organic coffees), La Mía (goat cheeses), and several new artisanal product providers will have many of their tasty foods and beverages for sale. If you are hungry, we will have freshly made humitas, tamales and a few other hot items available for purchase at the Feria.

Find our store location on Google Maps by searching for “El Mundo Orgánico” (not “Mundo Orgánico,” or you will end up in the wrong place).

To purchase items for home delivery, our full “Product and Pricing List” and “Ordering Instructions” are available on the Home Page of our website (www.elmundoorganico.com). In addition to many fresh, organic and natural fruits and veggies, we also offer a wide variety of very tasty vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, sugar-free, gluten-free foods and biodegradable products.

Remember, if you have a special request for a fruit or vegetable (or, for that matter, any other edible product for yourself or your pets) that is not on our product list, please let us know, and we will do our best to find it for you.

Have a great day.

The hours for the Gran Feria for El Mundo Organico on Tuesday, 23 March, are 10:00a to 2:00pm.
