Fiber optic internet service

This is regarding the fiber optic internet service provided in Cuenca. Does the fiber cable go right up to your apartment or is the fiber cable only at street level and then converted to copper from the street to the apartment?

If it is the latter, then I don’t think you are getting the full benefit of the high-speed provided by the fiber cable.

Thanks

This week in La Guarida

First week of March and we couldn’t be happier with the way February went. We had an awesome month; each of our musical experiences sold out and our film selections get a wonderful reception from our dear and loyal patrons. This month is not different and we have an incredible schedule for you to enjoy and take advantage. Remember that we serve brunch from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM. Come visit us.

Tuesday 6:45 PM. Capernaum.
We start March with a Lebanese masterpiece. After running away from his negligent parents, committing a violent crime and being sentenced to five years in jail, a hardened, streetwise 12-year-old Lebanese boy sues his parents in protest of the life they have given him.

Wednesday 6:45 PM. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
An outstanding Frances McDormand performs as Mildred Hayes. She is devastated after the rape and murder of her daughter. Months later, she protests and challenges the police officials when they fail to capture the culprit.

Thursday 7:30 PM. 4 de Cuba.
Admission $10. We are super excited to have the “4 de Cuba” band back in La Guarida. They are just incredibly talented and bring to La Guarida incredible energy and rhythm. It is impossible not to love them. Don’t miss this outstanding musical event.

All of our events are with dinner reservations required. Call to make your reservations 099 806 8071.

March 1st, from 9 AM to 9:30 PM, Free, Mariscal Lamar y Luis Pauta, Cuenca.

Andres: 099 806 8071. Call after: 8 AM.

ACT Fundraiser benefit at La Yunta

Azuay Community Theater is holding a benefit musical review at La Yunta restaurant Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14 beginning at 5 PM each day.

Featured are:

Matthew Hart and Paco Lightfoot reprising the great blues and country show they did at La Yunta early in February.

Cuenca’s own Broadway Star Cindy Benson covering show tunes and the Great American Song Book backed by the versatile David Z on keyboards.

Northern Roots, performing great harmonies over classic Americana, with Jeff Schinsky, Glenn David, Sara HB and Kristen Grzegorek.

And Ray Lewis with his eclectic bag of blues, country and folk.

Due to Covid restrictions, reservations are required. And, we would very much appreciate it if folks could team up and make reservations for four or more. It’s sort of like showering with friends, only different, and would not only help us have a bigger crowd, but would make Sole’s life a lot easier!

Email AzuayCommunityTheater@gmail.com for reservations. Patrons with reservations will pay $10 a head at the door, and there’s a better than even chance that folks without reservations may be turned away. So, reserve already. All proceeds go to Azuay Community Theater.

If you don’t know already, La Yunta is on the south side of Primero de Mayo just east of Las Americas.

Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, 2021, $10, La Yunta Restaurant, Primero de Mayo just east of Las Americas, Cuenca.

Advice on traveling with a minor

Hi all,

I need some advice about leaving Ecuador with a minor. Has anyone had experience getting a letter of consent to leave Ecuador if the child’s dad is in Europe? For example, if dad is an Italian citizen, living in Italy would he have to write a letter of consent in Italy, have it apostilled by the Italian authorities and then send the letter here to Cuenca? Or would he write the letter and take it to the Ecuadorian embassy in Italy? Please feel free to post or contact me directly about this issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

To use masks with high efficiency, doctors ask for variants of COVID

Guaranteeing or ensuring that the mask that you are going to use has high protection efficiency is the recommendation that doctors and infectologists in Ecuador are giving in the face of the variants or mutations of COVID-19 that circulate in the country and that are more contagious.

“The mask becomes a fundamental piece for you to work, do your activities. You need something that fixes your face well, the only ones that fix well are the highly effective ones ”, says Washington Alemán, physician-clinician and expert in infectious diseases, who considers it vital that citizens try to use a good mask at this time. that guarantees adequate protection.

Vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with pre-existing diseases, catastrophic diseases and others at risk should use a highly effective mask, such as the KN 95 type with filter to improve their breathing.

In the case of masks that guarantee high protection, such as type K95 with filter FFP2, FFP1 (the last two, European versions), among others, only one mask should be used. Not two, the experts quote. Nor two surgical at the same time.

I am Andrés Guillermo, authorized distributor for Cuenca and Azuay of these masks, imported from the USA, comfortable, light, adaptable to any face, their use does not cloud the lenses, they can be used by children or adults. I sell them by unit or by box of 20 units. Laminated to avoid manipulation. Contact me WhatsApp 099 647 2877 or call me, free home service.

Delicious coffee taste and aroma in the morning?

Enjoying a good coffee is one of the most common traditions in most cultures around the world. Coffee can be found in countless varieties, flavors, and prices.

There are two varieties of coffee trees, Arabica and Robusta. Arabica-type coffee is considered Premium and produces beans with the best flavor. Arabica coffee beans require very special conditions to grow. The coffee tree is highly susceptible to diseases and pests.

Once Arabica coffee is grown under ideal conditions, it must be processed correctly to bring premium coffee to your cup. Manual harvesting is important to ensure that only the reddest and ripest coffee cherry trees are harvested and used in the process. After being harvested, the coffee beans must be dried in the sun before being roasted by the experts.

I am Andrés Guillermo, the only distributor in Cuenca and Azuay of 100% Arabian coffee, grown and harvested at 1,300 meters above sea level, in the province of Zaruma. I have roasted coffee in two presentations: ground and beans, 450-gram bags so that you can make your breakfast or afternoon coffee a delicious experience in your mouth. C&C unisex hair design and barber shop

As anyone who’s gotten a really good — or bad — haircut knows, hair is so much more than just a look: It can be a reflection and reinforcement of who you are. And sometimes your hair speaks for you, even when you don’t say a thing. Have a long, curly, blonde mane? The world’s going to see you differently than someone with a straight, ombré coif.

It’s intensely personal, but it’s also totally public, Clemencia Vizhñay who owns C&C says, any relationship between hair and perception. “And [hair is] malleable; we can change it so easily in ways that we can’t change any other part of our body. It becomes a reflection of who that person is, and a sign of our identity.”
\
So what message are you sending with your hairstyle? We asked the experts to translate your tresses: So same as if you got your shaved or mustache trimmed it can show what personality you have. Anything related with you hair, moustache, or nails can change your whole life style. So we can accomplish your desires. Just give us a call or make some arrangements. Our team will do the best possible.

Recommendation for Jose Rodrigues, appliance repair

Any appliance, if it is repairable, Jose can fix it. My 1950s coliform was a disaster. My landlord refused to replace it. Finally it broke down on a Sunday. Jose came over within the hour. He took it apart, cleaned it and secured all fittings. 3 hours later it was working. He charged me $15. Few days later, he phoned me to check if it was OK. I told him, when I turned on hot water, it would backfire, making a tremendous noise. Again, he came over within the hour. He had picked up a part, he suspected was the problem. Again he disassembled the coiform, replaced the part. It no longer backfired. He charged me $10 for the cost of the part. You will never get a more honest, reasonably priced repairman.

I highly recommend Dr Sanchez for a more holistic and less toxic approach to dentistry. (He’s a very caring person and his English is very good.)

Recommendation for Tienda Nectar, healthy vegan foods, etc.

We love Tienda Nectar and its new location. If you haven’t been, put it on your list. When we first arrived in Cuenca five years ago, Tienda Nectar was the first visit on our list. We came into Cuenca at night, and the next day made Nectar our first stop in El Centro. There, we found healthy foods and items we still buy from them today. Sugar-free sweets from “El Mundo Organico”

What better to lift your spirits in all this rainy weather than a sweet treat?

Order some sugar-free (but sweetened) desserts made by “SIZÚ Lab”, such as “Rocky Road Chocolate Bars”, “Sweetened Almonds”, or “Peanut Butter Bars”, with your next “Build-Your-Own Basket” from El Mundo Orgánico.

If sweets are not your thing, why not add some savory snacks, such as “BYOB’s” delicious trail mix (350g size or 180g size) and some smoked provolone string cheeses from Magnus ($8.00 each flavor—basil, ají, garlic, fine herbs, sesame seed, basil/chives, almonds; and spicy olive).

Or perhaps you would prefer some of “SIZÚ’s” artisanal bagels (6 per order) and organic cream cheese (185gm,+/- 5g for $3.80), ideally topped with “SIZÚ’s” vegan and organic caponata, a bread topping made with eggplant, olive oil, and garlic (250g for $6.

You could even try “SIZÚ’s” vegan/organic onion chutney confit (250g for $6), their pastrami with fine herbs, and their organic/vegan hummus (250g for $6 or 500g for $8) as alternative or additional toppings for their bagels.

And don’t forget! This week, both for in-store purchase and for home delivery, we just received more freshly prepared horseradish (bottle of 230g) for only $6.50 per bottle (limited supply).

On our Home Page (www.elmundoorganico.com), you will find many, many more fresh, organic, natural, vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, and biodegradable products than just our available fruits and freshly picked organic veggies.

Our “Product List” and “Ordering Instructions” can be found on the Home Page of our website, http://www.elmundoorganico.com. Orders are currently accepted only (1) via emails sent to orders@elmundoorganico.com and (2) via “What’s App” texts to 093 906 2640.

Find our store location on Google Maps by searching for “El Mundo Orgánico” (not “Mundo Orgánico” or you will end up in the wrong place).

Remember, if you have a special request for a fruit or vegetable (or, for that matter, any other edible product for yourself or your pets) that is not on our list, please let us know, and we will do our best to find it for you.

Have a great day!

Armando Espinoza, 093 906 2640 (text only, please!)

Chan Chan Cheese this week…

Good day to all of you. We are back at Dos Sucres this week. Come by Tuesday morning from 9-10 and stock up on cheese, yogurt, milk and fresh veggies. Start your morning right with fresh food from local producers. If that doesn’t work for you, we are still dropping off orders at the Smokehouse and Tienda Nectar. Place your orders online at http://www.haciendachanchan.com. Also, please come to the Gran Feria this Saturday (March 6th) from 10-2 at the new Cosaprep store on Simón Bolívar 13-49 y Estévez de Toral.

This week we are offering four of our tasty, aged cheeses. These cheeses have been aged and are full of flavor. Try our Parmesan, perfect for grating. Take a taste of our Swiss, easy to slice for that perfect sandwich. Tempt yourself with our cheddar, always a favorite. Take a chunk of flavor home with our Pepper Jack, an excellent batch this week. Try them all for a delectable addition to your week.

All of our cheeses are made here on the farm with whole milk from our grass-fed mix of Jersey, Montbéliard and Holstein cows. The milk used in our cheese making is free of antibiotics and taken only from our cows. Because the cheese is an artisan cheese, each batch has its own unique characteristics.

Also available for purchase is our Greek yogurt ($2/lb), milk ($1.25/liter), cream ($2/liter), and cottage cheese ($4/lb). Please send in your orders for this week by 5 PM on Monday and let us know if it will be a delivery or pick-up at one of the locations listed below.

Please check out our website (www.haciendachanchan.com) for pictures of the farm, cows and our cabins that give you a chance to get away from it all. With little to no contact if you want, our cabins are a great retreat option for you and/or your family during these times. We also allow pets ($5/pet)…so come enjoy some fresh air with your furry buddy. Explore our hiking trails, interact with all of the animals or simply sit by the fire and enjoy the peace and quiet. All of our cabins come with heaters and fireplaces to keep you warm at night. Try a night in our treehouse, perhaps the highest treehouse in the world (elevation-wise). Let us know if you are interested or have any questions.

Tuesday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 6th, Dos Sucres-Roberto Crespo Toral 3-56 (9-10 AM), Smokehouse (pick-up Tuesday after 10:30 AM), Tienda Nectar (pick-up after 11 AM)
