I can’t believe I lost my cedula

Shame on me. On Thursday, June 11th, I had eye surgery at the Fundación Hogar on Padré Aguirre in Maria Auxiliadora. I never take my original cedula out of the home unless it is required. I took it that day because I was sure it would be required by the pharmacy for meds post surgery. Under a mild sedative I returned home and Saturday I was organizing stuff and my cedula is nowhere. I returned to the hospital but it was not found there. So…

I checked here on GringoPost and found an older post (1Meaneac1) who – in detail – described her procedure replacing her cedula. However, it was two years ago and as everything has change in our new Covid-19 existence things may not be the same. My question is: Is anyone presently in the process of obtaining a replacement cedula and can share their details? Are the government offices open under our “Yellow Light” restrictions?

I have a notarized copy of my cedula and a hard-laminated copy as well. But, as we know, the original is mandatory for many situations and I would like to replace my card A.S.A.P.

Thank you for reading my dilemma.

It is pay back time….

It is time for Gringos, that can afford to, to start revitalizing Ecuador’s and Cuenca’s devastated economy. Instead of doing it yourself, negotiating cheaper deals, please use local businesses to do the work. Gringos for years have lived the life of luxury in Ecuador; gotten cheap housing, food, transportation, etc. It is time we start paying back for the wonderful country we live in. Spending Dinero, locally, as much as you can afford, is essential to save this country.

If we do not “spend,” Ecuador is finished and we all will be looking for another poor country to take advantage of.

Dealing with Delays

“Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.” John 11:5-6

Delays are painful. We understand that God is all-knowing and that God is love, but we just don’t always fully understand God’s timing. When God doesn’t respond in the time frame that we have established, we wonder if God really cares. Delays intensify our fears and magnify the reality of our meager faith.

Have you ever been between a rock and hard place and wondered if God would come through for you? Have your circumstances ever taken you to a place you never thought you would go? God allows us to go through those seasons and experience those places in order to come to know the depth of His love. God is for us. God always has our best interests in mind.

Martha and Mary experienced the full impact of a delay. Their brother, Lazarus, was sick and died before Jesus got there. They knew firsthand the trauma of unmet expectations. They had seen Jesus speak life into the dead. They had seen Jesus restore sight to the blind, speech to the mute, mobility to the lame, and hearing to the deaf. Yet, Jesus did not operate according to their personal time preference. Jesus delayed.

Why doesn’t God show up to resolve your dilemmas sooner? Why does God seem to delay His response to your need for divine intervention? God’s timing is perfect. He is never late.

Do you trust God? Are you entrusting your life and your circumstances to His care? Are you willing to obey God in the midst of a perceived delay?

Ordonez Lasso.

Which is why, as the above title states, she is now providing both daily complimentary breakfast and lunch meetings for expats as individual persons or couples right inside her Calle Larga office at a long rectangular table with plenty of social distancing space allotted between both ends of the table (note that her office is the former home of the Windhorse Café – its menu still proudly displays in her new office in fact), and so simply email Attorney Sara Chaca today in order to reserve your own private one-on-one free breakfast or lunch with her so as to discuss any specific legal and/or visa (plus citizenship, estate planning as well as power of attorney and property or realty) type matters that are near and dear to you based on your personal needs and wants, which the daily time of each breakfast or lunch for any expat individual or couple to dine with her in-office shall be at Cuenca’s normal respective daily breakfast or lunchtime hour from between 8:30 and 9:30 AM as well as 1 and 2 PM, and there is absolutely no need for you to bring anything except for your original passport and/or original cédula as well as any other applicable paperwork that you wish to discuss during yours and her private scheduled breakfast or lunch meeting.

Attorney Sara Chaca caters your entire private one on one free breakfast or lunch with her, brought in via delivery from the Sunrise Café upon you selecting your desired meal from their menu immediately upon your arrival to her office, so as for you and Attorney Sara Chaca to conveniently analyze your particular scenario and speak together over a scrumptious Cuenca breakfast or lunch.

Home care / companion

I have experience in home care and LPN for 23 years in the US and 10 years in Cuenca. I take care of people in their houses or in my house. Also I can cook, clean, go shopping, bathe the patient, give the patient their medicine, or take them to the doctor; or we can go for a walk. It depends what the patient wants. I have very good references.

Recommendation for Sonia Zhicay, house cleaning

Recommendation for housekeeping by Sonia Zhicay. Sonia has been cleaning my home for 10 years. She is always prompt, polite and efficient. Sonia is very professional and takes initiative. Once she knows what is expected, she needs no further direction. I am comfortable leaving Sonia working in my home if I am not able to be there. She is completely trustworthy. She speaks only Spanish but understands much of what I have to say. With my limited Spanish and a little help from Google Translate we communicate well. She has an excellent mask that she leaves on the total time she is cleaning. Sonia is always in high demand but due to the corona virus, several of her North American clients have returned to the U.S. Now is the time to snatch her up! I highly recommend Sonia Zhicay. You will be thanking me for years to come.

I had a piece commissioned by him and I ‘m very pleased with it.

He currently has a display at Good Life Cafe on Ordoñez Lazo. Stop in and view his unique art.

Recommendation for Maria Calderon, nurse

Maria Calderon was very helpful in preparing me for an operation, accompanying me to doctors, translating and explaining medical jargon and instructions, and above all keeping track of all the bureaucratic details and paperwork necessary to get through the hospitalization and the insurance records afterwards. As a nurse she knows what it is all about and was very patient and caring.

Sincerely, Mariana Haskell
