Shipping to Cuenca?

I’m in the States for a week, and I want to ship a piece of exercise equipment to Cuenca. It’s around 70 LBs and in two boxes. What is the best service to use? How do I deal with government fees?
Any useful advice is appreciated. I’ve never shipped things to Cuenca before.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Julian’s surgery could happen next week.

$500 will fully fund Julian’s surgery so let’s make this happen.

What we need to cross the finish line:

5 of you to donate $100 or…
2 of you to donate $250 or…
1 of you to donate $500 but…
We appreciate every donation…your generosity is amazing!

To donate in Cuenca:

Contact Smith (Jeffrey Schmidt) at smith@jlsdesigns.net, Des and Bill at desmion.dizney@gmail.com, or Jane at jminer83@hotmail.com

To give from the US please donate on the gofundme page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/julian039s-plight

– Or –

You can still purchase a dozen roses for $10 from Trebol Roses. There are only 15 dozen left. One hundred percent of your purchase will be donated to Julian’s expenses. Your roses will be available for pick up at Trebol’s office located at Otorongo Plaza. You can pay when you pick them up. To place your order, please contact Karla Sanchez at 096 904 1385.

Julian needs this surgery next week. The public hospital and IESS are not options because they don’t have access to the specialized hardware required.

You have truly saved a family. Thank you.

International 6 on 6 volleyball – Sunday’s

The changes we made to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all players worked out very well. We will continue them this week.

11 AM – Noon. Basic Volleyball Rules and Skills Workshop. Last week we had a good turnout of those fairly new to the game and some veterans who wanted to refresh their skills. We reviewed basic rules, the importance of 3 touches per side, practiced both serving and underhand passing skills, and introduced “free ball” defensive positions and basic overhand setting. This week we will review, then move on to overhand passing. Watch weekly GringoPost for additional dates for the Basic-skills workshop.

Noon – 2 PM. Intermediate to advanced level games for experienced players. The level of play continues to improved because of the skills practiced at the 11-12 workshop and the use of a whistle to call net, lift, and throw fouls. We will do the same this week.

We hope to see you on Sunday.

Join us on our Facebook page (Cuenca “Bump-Set-Spike” volleyball)

Free “dental implant” raffle – a true $1,000 value for the winner

Yes, you’re reading the title of this announcement correctly.

On or before February 20th, 2020 at 2 PM, simply email us with your full name and stated confirmation that you personally need at least one or more dental implant(s), so that the 100% free dental implant is awarded to an expat who truly needs/wants it, and then the following morning we’ll prominently announce on “GringoPost”, the winner of the raffle for that expat who in the very capable hands of “Dr. No Pain” (Dr. Andres Pacheco) will receive the free dental implant for a day/time of their convenience, in a ‘double-blind’ drawing!

And regardless, every expat (besides the ultimate winner per the above) who takes part in the raffle by emailing us to enter it, will still in any and all cases during the next 2 months thereafter receive a 20% discount (still a true $200 value) on one dental implant at the “Find Health in Ecuador Dental Clinic” (not to be combined with other discounts or freebies). As such, we look forward to your email sign-up per the “free dental implant” raffle for expats today.

Finally, remember that every dental patient’s first dental cleaning and exam by our own “Dr. No Pain” (Dr. Andres Pacheco) is fully complimentary — totally free of charge ($0.00).

Cuenca Car Share, your friend in Ecuador

Cuenca Car Share has been in business for several years now and has provided the expat community with the ability to become mobile with a two-fold service.

First: For non-vehicle owners we provide vehicles to licensed drivers at very reasonable daily or weekly rates, that are far less than what local car rental agencies charge.

Our prices can be very flexible and depending on how long you rent the vehicle, we can offer you free or unlimited kilometers, and we can as well offer special discounts for long-term rentals.

If you’re unfamiliar with our location, have no fear. We will come to you at no extra charge. We offer concise and friendly service so contact us and add your name to our ever-growing list of friends.

Second: If you are a car owner and have discovered your car seems to sit idle for long periods of time, and you are interested in make some extra cash, contact us as we would love to “share” your vehicle with others. Cuenca Car Share is now accepting vehicles from vehicle owners to rent out to visitors and residents alike. Contact us now for more information!

Saturday is Fun Day at The Good Life Cafe

Why is Saturday Fun Day at the Good Life Cafe? If you have been to the Good Life Cafe you would probably say, every day is Fun Day and that would be true. However, Saturdays are more fun because you can save some money while you are having fun! Here is how it works. We have the fun box which has discounts, free stuff and even a $50 Gift Certificate in it. Every party gets to draw from the fun box and whatever you win can be used immediately. For example, if your bill is $10 and you pull a 30% discount from the box, you immediately get $3 off your tab. If you are lucky and get the $50 Gift Certificate, you can pay for your entire check with the gift certificate and still have some left over. So, if you are going to eat out anyhow, why not eat at the Good Life Cafe where the food is amazing and the fun never stops.

New Menu Item – Arepas. We experimented with them today and they were a HUGE success so we are adding them to the menu. We will be adding other items to the menu too, so stay tuned.
