2020 New Year Festive Concert

A beautiful tradition with which many symphony orchestras around the world welcome the New Year. The Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca under the baton of the famous Swiss conductor Emmanuel Siffert, with the participation of lyric singers Gabriela Méndez (Soprano), María Augusta Jibaja (Mezzosoprano), Marlon Valverde (Tenor) and David Peña (Bass), begins the first 2020 season with two beautiful New Year’s Festive Concerts on Friday, January 10 at 8 PM and Sunday, January 12 at 11 AM, “Family Concert”, in the Old Cathedral. The entrance to the two events is free until capacity is filled.

A cheerful and energetic repertoire will be responsible for transporting us on a magical journey and a festive welcome to this new challenge: the year 2020. From Mozart’s immortal works to the realists of Puccini, the ancestors of Bizet, to the explosive Donizetti, to the deep Verdi or to the stylized Moreno Torroba, we will pass to the elegant halls of Vienna or Salzburg to commemorate the tradition and elegance of the Viennese waltz with the popular Strauss.

This first concert intends to unite several styles in a sense of fraternity and projection of the wide repertoire that will be focused during the two seasons of 2020 as a gesture of gratitude and welcome to our wonderful audiences.

The Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca recognizes and appreciates the great support of the Media and its beloved audience and awaits them at each of the scheduled concerts.
