Canadian Election

Does anyone know how Canadians can vote in the upcoming federal election from Cuenca?

Bringing your pets from USA

HI, I’m seriously considering moving to Cuenca, I have 2 small pets less than 10 pounds. I’ve been reading about altitude and its problems for animals to adapt. I’m from Florida so the highest altitude my pet ever been on is an elevator, LOL.

I’m very scared for what I’ve read. Has anyone taken your dog down there? Can I get any advice.

Taxi drivers

Almost a decade living in the safety of Cuenca. Times are different. Be careful. Taxi meters have sped up almost doubling fares. Drivers are taking the long scenic route to increase their fares, never mind they’re wasting gas doing it which equates to a wash.

Who can blame them, they’re mad as hell about the gas price increases. With that anger, it’s a little scary hailing even a reputable AzuTaxi who took the very long way while his meter flipped every half second both standing still and moving. When, what we typically pay, showed up a mile before our house, we politely asked the driver to stop, saying his meter was running too fast, he shrugged and we walked home.

We’re back to the old days of agreeing on the fare before the ride.

Just stay focused and alert, folks. These people are mad as heck and desperate.

When to pay IESS

I know that the IESS payment has to be made by the 15th. I just went to CAJA, where I usually pay it, and was told that I couldn’t pay it until Monday. Last month I was also told no but I didn’t understand why. Is it certain days, certain hours?

Hello all,

I need something mailed from a family member in the States to Cuenca. I’ve been told that we can rent a P.O. Box through either DHL, FedEx or UPS and then have the package sent.

Does anyone have experience doing this? Does it work? Can you direct me to a location here in Cuenca where I can do this?

My massage practice {Body Balance} of 17+ years was created out of a love of helping people find relief from their day-to-day stress, headaches, body tension and pain. I incorporate various studied techniques (i.e., NeuroMuscular & Advanced Deep Tissue, Myoskeletal Alignment, Medical Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Trigger Point Technique, Energy Work and Intuition) which help soften and release muscle and fascia tightness (e.g., knots, spasms, contractions, congested tissue, trigger points) in order that you can feel looser, move easier, and progress towards a more relaxed and pain-free body.

Or, you can just have a nice, relaxing Massage Session.

Each Client I engage with is afforded the opportunity to comprehend their possible Muscular Issues. I provide understanding to move in a positive direction naturally, physically, and mentally. I assist in the achievement of experiencing actual progress in your continued path towards health.

Recommendation for Daniel Mocha, facilitator / transportation

Daniel was recommended by our expat (American) friend who lives in Cuenca. We needed him to help us purchase a cell phone, and his tech knowledge and good English and Spanish made the transaction painless. He knows the city and the country well. He also took us on a day trip in his nice vehicle, touring the countryside and the most interesting towns and locations. He is a safe driver, which meant a lot to us on those mountain roads. He was non-intrusive yet open for conversation any time we wanted. Daniel is a personable, intelligent and well-bred guy with self-taught English way better than one would expect. Based on our experiences with him, we recommend him highly.

Bodhi Burgers report

Just wanted to let you know we are open and we even have an electric grill in case we are unable to get gas. Food supplies are still good. Come on down. We are also offering combo meals that are at a discount when you buy a full combo. We have also increased the size of our Junior and our simple burger patties. They are now 2 and 3 oz and the double is 6 oz. There are now two options with all burgers, deluxe and basic. The deluxe is the same price as before, $2, $3.25 and $3.99, but there is now a basic option that is with just catsup, mustard, pickles and onion which is $0.25 less. So, more meat; cheaper price options. Rare, but we have decided we want to improve our value proposition.

Lastly, you will note if you type in Best Hamburgers in Cuenca we are listed as number 1. We are fast approaching 200 reviews. Better than 90% of them are 5 stars. 5% are 4 stars and there are a handful of reviews that are at 3 stars and less.

I say this to explain that we believe that 99% of our food comes off the line at 4-5 star quality. But 1% of the time, something could be over cooked, undercooked, too crunchy not crunchy enough over salted, etc. Our commitment is to strive for perfection but we acknowledge that in that pursuit of perfection there are meals that have gone out less than perfect. We ask that if you get something that isn’t right or isn’t to your liking, bring it back and we will replace it. If you are one of the unlucky ones that had a less than 5-star experience I am inviting you to come in tell us what happened and we will re-do your meal free of charge. Call me to let me know you are coming so that if I am not there the staff will be prepared to remake your meal free of charge.

Now, Mariscal Sucre 17-80 at 3 de Noviembre 4-5 blocks before plaza San Sebastien
