Drummer needed

Hi, I am looking for a drummer for a new music project I’m putting together. Needs to be able to perform Rock & Blues — not a Latin guy. Could play a drum kit, or even just a cajon. I have talked to quite a few who are too busy, but maybe someone on this forum can help. Thanks,

Jan Wallace

Darling Samantha (formerly Lassie) was abandoned by owners

Samantha, a small/med size Golden Labrador mix, is a very sweet and gentle girl about 3-years old. She’s been groomed, spayed and has received all annual vaccinations.

When her owners moved away, they tied her inside the house. The next-door neighbor heard her cries for help and broke into the house to save little Samantha.

Samantha is a sweet adorable and manageable doggie with excellent manners.

Would you consider giving her a chance in a real loving home? She will love you and I know you will love her.

Please contact for photos or any other information.

Thank you,

Thank you so much for your concern Jo, I really appreciate it.

Actually, I rescued Samantha. She used to live next to my house, with awful owners. Until last week, that we noticed a huge truck in the neighborhood, and these people moved to another place, leaving Samantha in the house.

She was tied up at the corner of the house, she was crying and asking for her freedom. She looked very sad, and conquered me, with her sweet eyes. So, I had to break into her house, I borrowed a ladder of my neighbors, and I climbed into her house. I know this is a crime here, to break into a house that is not yours; but I thought, Isn’t it a crime to abandon your own dog to her faith, inside your house? That’s a crime for me…so, anyway, yes, I broke into her house and took her in my arms, because she was unable to walk, for her bad situation.

As a result of a terrible treatment of her owners, she’s limping on her right leg; she was abused many times, kicked off the house many times, and she didn’t eat or drink in days, and we couldn’t help her, because she used to be tied in her house.

But, those bad days for Samantha are over. I rescued her, and I took her to Clinica Veterinaria Gallardo, where, Dr. Javier Gallardo, gave her all the attention and caring for a few days. She even stayed there, because she needed to be treated for her bad health, but now, she looks new; she’s reborn to a new Life, and she deserves all the best. What kind of human being, commits a crime like that? I’ve never seen anything like this myself, this is simply cruel.

Samantha is in my house now, but, she’s looking for her forever home to stay and be happy and make you the happiest person ever. She’s an adorable puppy, very sweet and affectionate, you’ll love her, she’s very obedient and calm.

Give her a chance to live her life in a nice environment, and a nice home, with people that love her; she really deserves it.

Bistro at the Oasis is opening Oct 19; glorious nature and cuisine

We are excited about our Eco Resort and restaurant opening October 19, just 30 minutes from Cuenca by car or taxi, and served by three bus lines, who will drop you right at our front gate. A lovely idea for an outing, enjoying our spectacular property, where you can hike, explore the quebrada (mountain stream), or simply sit enjoying the mountain vistas and the sounds of the many waterfalls. We have several taxis and a great private driver ready to pick you and bring you here…perfect for a group of friends or couples to enjoy a memorable day.

Our cuisine is French and Italian, bistro style, with menu items that include the Italian tramazzino sandwich, the French Croque Monsieur, Chicken Piccata or Marsala, a fantastic eggplant parmesan, and trout meuniere almondine. For desserts we feature chocolate mousse, Italian cheesecake, and the French classic Apple Galette. We serve beer and wine by the glass, and offer a small but delightful wine list, plus a few special after dinner drinks.

Open only Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 7 PM (last seating at 6 PM).

Our Eco Resort features a special package, where you can rent one or both of our pine log cabins, and have the resort to yourself for your group. The package includes transportation to our Eco Resort with time to enjoy the afternoon exploring the beauty and tranquility of nature, a 4-course elegant fireside dinner, a full breakfast served either in our main lodge or in the privacy of your cabin, also with its own fireplace. Joe’s “Award Winning” Fried Chicken and free beer tasting

This Saturday, Joes’ Secret Garden, ‘Best of Cuenca” Chicken gets a little bit better when we join forces with The Hop Factory artisan beer. Free beer tastings and full-size purchase at the bar. It’s a winning combination. The beer is brewed by local guy, Thomas Mauk, and his wife who will be there to personally chat about their brewing methods and beer selection.

And then Southern “Fried Chicken” dinner mixed with the comfort and friendly atmosphere of our home. That’s hospitality.

Crisp, crunchy, craggly and subtly spicy golden chicken served with creamy cole slaw, buttery garlic mashed potatoes, milk gravy, light country biscuits ending with a ‘warm, chocolate puddin’ cake” makes for real good eating.

Fried chicken and beer seem like such a natural marriage.

Dining is by reservation only so visit our website, http://www.joessecretgarden.com and click on the red button. it’s as easy as that.

A healthy alternative to fried chicken, our oven roasted herb garlic chicken; must order in advance.

Vegetarians, we always cook something special for you. Let us know when you book.

Saturday, Oct. 12th. The Hop Factory tasting and fun social hour/mixer starts at 5 PM followed by dinner about 6:30. Join us. We love to cook for you. Come meet some great people while enjoying a taste of The Hop Factory brews., Address at time of reservation.
