Undeterred, Rough Knuckle Sconery delivers

Not taxi strikes, nor tear gas, not crowds of running students nor road blockades will deter Rough Knuckle Sconery from continuing to fill its orders. We are fully stocked and ready to make, bake and deliver scones because our goal is to feed 1000 people through the Cuenca Soup Kitchen.

So, if orders come from our retail partners, we will fill them and we will announce when and where.

One scone at a time!

Answer to travel question

I realize the situation is fluid but, we are flying into Guayaquil Saturday night and coming to Cuenca on Sunday. Does anyone know if the mini-vans (Operazuay, etc.) or micro-buses (Alianza) are running during this strike period? Or, are the roads even open for vehicles to pass? Thanks,

Dear el Vergel neighbors – alert – need your help please

My husband saw a German Shepherd in El Vergel that was being confined to the front of a house. His body is covered with flies and inside his ears too. We suspect maggots are in his ear as well. We can get help for this doggie, but we can’t find him.

Proximity of Work Center He started here and got lost trying to find SuperMaxi El Vergel.

Work Center: Miguel Cordera Davil y Paucarbama and El Vergel SuperMaxi and Hansel and Gretel. Doggie could be in these boundaries. He got lost and can’t remember where the poor doggie is. We spent nearly 2 hours searching today.

Please contact me immediately if you see or know of this doggie. Gross neglect is against the law. Here are some contacts of people I know who are bilingual and can file the report with:

The new name of The Vegetable Bar is…

Good Life Cafe. The winner will be announced shortly after they confirm they won. In other words, I want them to hear it from me first.

Good Life Cafe is an Awesome new name with unlimited potential. I like it because it is upbeat, positive and for most of us, the very reason we came to Cuenca to begin with. With a Good Life come Good Food and Good Friends which is what Good Life Cafe is all about – and Good Cheese Cake (actually, it is magnificent cheese cake).

Thank you to everyone that contributed names and to all that voted. We have to get to work on designing the New logo and menus.

Tomorrow at Good Life Cafe (formerly The Vegetable Bar) our special is either Lasagna, house salad and garlic bread for $5.95 or Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes and a house salad for $5.95. We’re Livin’ the Good Life at the Good Life Cafe.

The Good Life Cafe is located in the exact same spot as The Vegetable Bar at Ordonez Lasso y Los Cedros 5-58. In fact, The Vegetable Bar signs are still present and may be for some time depending on the transportation strike. Speaking of which, We Are Open and will be for the entirety of the strike. So come on down to The Good Life Cafe and get your Grub On!

We are open Mon. – Sat. 9 AM – 3 PM and Sunday for all you can eat brunch from 9 AM – 1 PM. By the way, all you can eat brunch now known as The Good Life Brunch, is not a buffet – everything is cooked to order.

Recommendation for Christian Ordonez

Faceconstructions, general contractor, handyman, facilitator and driver

This is a recommendation for Christian Ordonez, owner of Faceconstructions. He recently provided renovation services for me in an apartment, including painting, electrical and plumbing. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of Christian’s work.

He speaks English fluently and his fees are reasonable. I found him to be a very personable, industrious and conscientious young man.

Recommendation for Mocagi-San Sushi, restaurant

A small unpretentious restaurant just east of Tres Puentes. Fantastico! We told the chef/owner to “indulge himself”, and make a nice sampler for two. What he brought out was superb, and beautiful. A combo of sashimi, and different rolls. Each one was absolutely delicious. I don’t think that there is any better. The prices? Very, very good. Try it, you’ll like it!
